DON’T HAVE MORE FAITH IN THE ENEMY THAN YOU HAVE IN GOD
A thought occurred to me tonight while talking with my Honey about stuff. We Christians are very quick to state things like “If you were to tell me two years ago what would be happening in 2020 and 2021, I would not have believed you!” We are simply overwhelmed with so many crazy things that we couldn’t even have imagined:
– Rioters burn down cities while governors and mayors stand and watch (and sometimes approve).
– Cities are burnt to the ground and then they decide to defund police departments.
– Allegations of voter fraud abound, yet not one single court or governing body was willing to even consider the arguments.
– Our new “president elect” signs more executive orders in his first two weeks in office, most of which serve only the purpose of undoing everything his predecessor did, with no thought about the good of the nation.
– The democrats spent four years doing absolutely nothing for their constituents, and spent so much time and energy fighting the elected president that they forgot how to actually do anything constructive for the nation.
– There is a trial to impeach someone who isn’t even in office anymore, for an offense that is 100% imaginary and made up out of thin air in order to frame him and prevent him from ever running for public office again.
Many conservative, politically-active Christians are dumbfounded that such incredible things can actually happen in this great country and are utterly shocked that all this is actually real.
But here is a fascinating thing I’ve been thinking about: although Christians are utterly speechless about the advances the enemy seems to have made, yet they don’t feel the same way about what God can STILL DO in this nation!
Think about it…many Christians are perfectly willing to give voice to everything that’s gone wrong and are gob-smacked that it could happen in this day and age. Yet they do NOT have the same opinion about what God is STILL ABLE TO DO!
Many have given up entirely, believing that it’s all settled, the people have spoken, we need to settle in and maybe we can make progress in 2022 to flip some House and Senate seats. In other words, the bad guys won, and there’s nothing we can do about it now except learn to live as obedient Christians and continue to simply pray and remain virtuous. But they have no faith that God can still change things. That God actually won. Or that He can still make the changes that He wants to make in this country.
It’s difficult for me to find the words to adequately express this idea. It’s like we have all kinds of faith in the enemy to send this nation down the toilet, but we have no faith in God to save it. We have all kinds of faith in the enemy to institute his evil plans of abortion, gender confusion, family disintegration, hostility toward Jews, destruction of the economy, and the breakdown of many societal norms that have been historically based on Judeo-Christian values.
But we have no faith that God can actually DO anything to correct the situation now that the “enemy” has “taken control” of this great nation.
It reminds me very much of an argument I hear all the time from Christians who do not believe in the miracle gifts of the Holy Spirit. They insist that prophecies, words of wisdom and words of knowledge are dangerous and to be avoided, because of the risk of accepting lies from the enemy (since he is so incredibly deceitful) rather than truth from God. They literally have more faith in the enemy to deceive us than they have in God to inform us.
People, where is our faith?
We literally have more faith in the enemy to steal our nation away from us than we have in God to save it! This is disheartening and actually disgusting to see!
No, this is not “Christian nationalism.” That’s a stupid concept that many Christian teachers have been talking about (in a very negative sense) and it betrays a severe lack of wisdom on their part.
We Christians who believe that a government should NOT kill babies are criticized by our fellow believers for being “nationalists” merely because we voted for the man who proved he wants to fight abortion.
We Christians who believe that a government should support freedom of speech are criticized by our fellow believers for being “nationalists” merely because we voted for the man who proved he wants to protect the first amendment.
We Christians who believe that a government should live by the rule of law are criticized by our fellow believers for being “nationalists” merely because we voted for the man who proved he wants to fight illegal immigration, human trafficking and illegal trade imbalances.
Many “Christian leaders” (I use that term very loosely) have declaimed how harmful it is to the Christian witness around the world for evangelicals to support Trump, stating those of us who voted for him have traded our allegiance to God for allegiance to Trump. This is one of the most ignorant and dangerous things I’ve heard.
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he’s against ripping babies apart in their mothers’ wombs?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he’s against human trafficking?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he wants to support free speech?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he wants fair elections?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he is pro-Israel?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he is pro-Constitution?
Is it “worshipping” Trump to vote for him because he wants the American economy to thrive?
We don’t believe Trump is our savior, as many Christian never-Trumpers accuse. Of the hundreds of Trump supporters I know, not a single one believes that. Trump simply represents the ideal of turning back toward the rule of law under the guidance of the Constitution which, it is important to note, is based on biblical principles.
I believe many Christians have given up hope, because they honestly have more faith in the enemy to destroy this nation than they have in God to save it.
Before you get all hot under the collar at that statement, think it through first. Do you have more faith in the enemy to keep a destructive, anti-God administration in office than you do in God to change things around? If you’ve given up, then you can’t be part of the solution.
If you feel that our current state of affairs in this country cannot have come about except for supernatural intervention by the enemy to deceive people and to put into office an administration that is proving to be the most pro-abortion in history, then why do you not feel that our current state of affairs can be turned back toward righteousness by God Almighty?
Maybe you DO believe God can and will change things for the better. If so, then we’re on the same side.
But if you’re mourning the loss, if you’re discouraged, if you think the enemy cannot be defeated and we just have to live with this evil, if you just want Jesus to come back and get us all out of here so we can let the rest of the world go to hell in a handbasket, if you believe that only a tiny fraction of people will actually escape God’s judgement and that the powerful cosmos-shaking atonement of Jesus is only effective enough to save a small handful of people among the nearly eight billion who walk this earth, then I have some recommendations for you:
1. Stop accepting the status quo. If you are astounded by what the enemy seems to have accomplished, then you should be even MORE astounded thinking about what God can do in these next few days and weeks. Do not have more faith in the enemy to succeed at his plans than you have in God to succeed in His plans!
2. Don’t give in to fear. Perfect love casts out fear. Love God, love your neighbors, pray for those in authority, and pray and declare that God will save this nation.
3. Realize that God is into saving nations. In the end, He will separate sheep NATIONS from goat NATIONS (Matthew 25:31). Therefore, it is not ungodly or unbiblical to pray for and expect the healing, success and prosperity of this nation in order that we may be a blessing to other nations.
4. Realize that God’s promises work, and they are FOR YOU. His promises to keep you and care for you are not affected by who is in office, what the political landscape looks like, or what kind of upheaval is happening in our culture. Therefore, no matter what happens, you can have the assurance of peace and purpose.
Stand for who and what is right and just, and watch God come through for you in 2021 like you could never have imagined. As fantastic as it seems to consider everything negative that has happened in our nation these past 12 months, be even more fascinated by what God is doing and will do in the immediate future.
