WELCOME TO THE TRIBE!

INTRODUCTION TO DANGEROUS HERETICS, #1

Hi, my name is Jim Berge. Welcome to The Dangerous Heretics! I would like to invite you to subscribe to our Youtube channel [NOT ACTIVE YET – CHECK BACK SOON! (MARCH 17 2021)], and please, please share these posts and the videos, if you like them, with others you think may be interested in truth and spiritual clarity.

It has honestly been kind of excruciating to try and figure out the topics of these first few posts. I have SO MUCH I want to say, and I just have to rest in the trust that you will come back for more, because it’s going to take a while to get all of this down.

I have a goal to make each of these posts, and the videos, a sort of short and sweet but hard-hitting doses of truth. I don’t know about you, but if I’m reading a blog or watching a video, there are times when I might sit for 30 or 60 minutes to listen to a very compelling message, but I rarely have time for that.

So, I want to try to keep these messages to just a few minutes each. I strongly believe that anything worth saying can be boiled down to a few minutes if you try hard enough and think about it long enough. My goal is less than ten minutes per post.

However, there will obviously be many topics that simply require far more than a few minutes of attention, so in those cases we plan to present those topics in bite sized pieces that will still be limited to just a few minutes each but will be spread out over multiple posts.

Of course, there will also be times when we will just have to spend more time, so be ready anything!

First, I guess we really need to define the term “dangerous heretics!”

Jesus was a heretic. In the minds of the Pharisees He was absolutely off the deep end. They cursed and tore their clothes at the things he said, and they absolutely could not believe that He made Himself equal with God Almighty. He was a heretic for sure!

And in 2 Corinthians 6:8, Paul said that he and his companions were “regarded as deceivers, yet true.”

Turns out if you speak the truth, there will always be someone ready and willing to analyze every word, nuance, illustration and implication that you present and find some way to contradict it and label you a heretic.

This is especially true when we talk about real, deep down, biblical truths, because the Bible can be very divisive. There are a couple things we will always strive to do here, and this is part of our fundamental approach to Dangerous Heretics:

FIRST, we will try to always apply the truth of the Bible in its most simple, easy-to-understand form. This usually gets people into trouble, because we have learned that many Christians don’t let the Bible interfere with what they believe.

SECOND, in those instances where we are talking about extra-biblical truth (and there’s LOTS of that stuff available in the universe!) we will try to identify it as such. There is the Bible, which is the greatest revelation of God’s truth to humankind, then there is the physical creation, the universe, which is also a very critical and incredible revelation of Jesus. We will use both, because all parts of God’s creation must ultimately agree with one another, having been created by the same person.

Romans 1:18-20 says:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

So we will be using both the Bible as our primary source, but also truth from science and nature as a secondary source of revelation about who God really is.

In other words, we’re in for quite a ride. I have no reputation to protect, I have no congregation that might stop supporting me, and I honestly don’t care what others think of me as long as I am speaking the things that God wants me to speak and that are consistent with His revelation in the Bible.

My goal is to build a tribe of like-minded individuals, but if you do not identify as a born again Christian, you’re still very welcome! I’m here to talk about biblical truth with you, but it’s not my job to force you to decide what to do with this information. I’m trusting that truth is enough. Truth will always win in the end and I trust and pray that the truth will change your life for the better.

So, welcome again, and hang on, and please come back for more. We will try to provide compelling and interesting content, and I will leave comments open, even though I may regret it. Just please don’t be offended if I don’t answer all of the comments, or even if I ignore them completely. I don’t have time to engage in great debates, I am simply here to say what’s on my mind, and I hope and pray that it will be of value to you.
