Open Letter To Christian Anti-Trumpers

I get it. As a Christian, you don’t like Donald Trump. There are a myriad of reasons why this could be. Perhaps it’s his attitude. His past sins. His toughness. His lack of pastoral qualities. You see him as not nice. Maybe you think he’s mean. Or a liar. Should we not have a spectacular specimen of moral integrity and faultlessness in our President, the highest office in the land and perhaps the most important political position in the entire world?

Perhaps you have fear. Fear that he will be unfair in how he runs the nation. Unfair in his criteria for exporting illegal aliens, or using his power against his political enemies, or to persecute marginalized members of our society.

Let me submit that I believe every one of the fears mentioned above are misled.

Regarding his moral quality:

  • Many Christian leaders I follow have claimed that Trump, especially since his near-death assassination attempt, has come closer to God than ever before. Many say he has give his life to Christ. If you doubt this, then take it up with the Father, because only He knows the truth, and you don’t.
  • Some Christians have criticized him for going soft on abortion, since he was against a federal ban. The truth is, he is a constitutionalist first and foremost, and therefore understands that the law of the land – the Constitution – prohibits the federal government from making laws that fall outside the specific things mentioned in the constitution, and therefore the abortion issue has been properly handed back to the states. If you are against abortion, then get off your couch and go convince your local and state lawmakers to ban abortion in your state.
  • Some Christians get heartburn about having a felon in the White House, but fail to realize that the charges brought against him are 100% bogus. The whole thing about his business dealings in New York, for which Biden’s justice department wanted to hand down felony charges, was based on victimless crimes. The very people Trump was accused of overcharging for his properties said they had no problems with the business deals and would do it again. The entire Russian collusion hoax has been clearly identified as 100% lies in court, yet we still hear those rumblings as if there were some truth to it. There is a very good reason why Trump is not in jail – it’s because he’s innocent.
  • Some Christians have heartburn over his sexual misconduct over the years. We are justified in bringing this up, but we also must be careful – since we call ourselves believers in the Word of God – to see it from God’s perspective. Trump has confessed, apologized, and is forgiven. If you doubt that, then I have a couple suggestions for you:
    • First, consider the moral failings of Abraham (giving away his wife to Pharoah to do with her as he pleased, just to save his own skin), and Moses (a murderer), and King David (an adulterer and murderer), and the Apostle Paul (a Christian killer). God is not limited to using only morally perfect men because there are no morally perfect men.
    • Next consider any human male on the planet. The bible is clear that adultery and lust are equal in His eyes. Any pastor, Sunday School teacher, politician, or critic of Donald Trump must be 100% innocent of ever lusting after a sexy girl, or you are just as guilty of anything you are accusing Trump of.
    • Next consider that even if Trump was an unregenerate pagan (he is not), God still has the right to use him to bless this nation. Consider Pharoah (who thought himself to be God) and how he was a friend of Joseph and the Israelites, or Cyrus (a pagan king that supported Israel) or Artaxerxes (who encouraged Nehemiah to go rebuild the walls of the city, and even gave him the lumber for the project). God can use anyone He pleases to bless the nations.

Next, regarding his tough exterior and seemingly un-Christlike qualities:

  • Was Jesus always nice? Was he being nice when he called the Pharisees sons of satan? Was He being nice when he whipped the money changers with a whip? Was he being nice when said to Peter “Get behind me satan”? The modern Christian church is suffering from an epidemic of niceness.
  •  We equate being nice with keeping our hands off all illegal aliens because it’s not nice to send them home, yet many of them are criminals who have literally murdered our innocent citizens.
  • We equate being nice with accepting anyone’s perverted variation of sexuality because they might feel badly if we tell them the truth, when in reality those who have been allowed to pursue their alleged sexual identity and encouraged to do so, end up with much higher rates of depression and suicide. It’s not love to encourage someone to destroy themselves, just as it’s not nice to encourage an alcoholic relative to continue in his addiction because we must be nice at any cost.
  • We equate being nice with closing our borders, when the open border has led to more than 320,000 children simply disappearing, lost in the shuffle, many sold into sexual slavery, and it has led to rampant influx of fentanyl which is killing tens of thousands of our citizens, and it leads to enriching cartels who make money for their drug culture and rape the women and children coming across the border.
  • It is time we got over this “niceness at all costs” mentality and correctly identify sin as sin. The modern church in America has stopped preaching about holiness and sin and instead welcomes every person and every behavior in the name of love and niceness. Such people are clueless about how Jesus and the New Testament in general handle sin. Yes, we love the sinner, but it is NOT love to encourage them in their sin.
  • The Bible is quite clear that the laws of the land (when in the hands of a righteous ruler, which the previous administration was demonstrably NOT), are to protect the people. The previous administration worked very, very hard to subvert many of the laws of this land, including providing political sanctuary for known felons, denying free speech, persecuting Christians, and much more. Trump simply promised to bring back the rule of law, a very biblical principle, yet many Christians wail and cry about this. In other words, they need to go back and read their Bibles.

Next, regarding fears about how he will run this nation.

  • First, he is focusing hard on reducing, NOT increasing, the influence of the federal government in the lives of Americans. He wants to hand control back to the individual states, a very constitutional thing to do. He has assigned people to vet the unfathomable debt spending this nation has been participating in and getting us back in the black financially. He supports investigations into the corruption of our food supply, which for the sake of money is killing America faster than any pandemic or disease ever could. He has criticized the state of California for diverting water to the ocean to save smelt, and leaving reservoirs dry when wildfire season arrived, all while cutting funding to the fire departments and spending MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on DEI initiatives.
  • Trump is criticized when he mentions justice for the criminal component of the previous administration, and is himself accused of wanting to do the same  when all he is doing is exercising the laws of the land. Criminals SHOULD be prosecuted, and a Christian who disagrees with that does not know his or her Bible. Also, it is a great and obvious hypocrisy to call out Trump for weaponizing the government against his political enemies after viewing the travesties the previous administration has participated in. In one of many examples, Zuckerberg has admitted under oath that the previous administration forced him to disregard the First Amendment and censored any free speech that contradicted anything the Biden camp was preaching.

None of this is new, and none of this should come as a surprise to anyone. It’s all there in black and white, and over the next few weeks and months I guarantee that we will see the plain evidence of the absolute lawlessness of the previous administration. These people must be held accountable for their unlawful action, or else the rule of law becomes meaningless.

Is it consistent with the American ethos to imprison a grandma who was peacefully protesting an abortion clinic by holding a sign? Is it consistent with the American ethos to imprison all the J6ers who were found guilty by simply standing there peacefully in the Capitol building, many of them held in horrific circumstances including solitary confinement, without a trial or even without any charges brought against them for more than three years (a glaring repudiation of their constitutional rights)? Is this the America that you Trump-haters want? Really?

Yet people cling to their anti-Trump attitude. Does the Bible not tell us that it is God who sets up kings and deposes them? Does not the Bible tell us that God is not mocked, and what men sow they will also reap? Does the Bible not tell us that if people will cry out to Him on behalf of their nation that He will intervene and save them (millions of Christians have been praying for a shift back to constitutional values in this country which is really all that Trump is trying to do)?

What is it that angers you about Trump? Is it his crackdown on Tren de Aragua, a violent gang who kicked families out of their apartments in Denver at gunpoint and terrorized neighborhoods (because local Colorado and Denver officials didn’t have the guts to do the job, a typical result of radical-left Marxist thinking)? Is it his stopping the flow of criminals over our southern border, criminals who have killed and raped our citizens and brought lethal drugs into America? Is it his desire to balance the budget and prevent a total financial collapse of this country for your children and grand-children? Is it his desire to stop the flow of pornographic books into our elementary schools and the drag queens performing for our first-graders? Is it his desire to bring back the practice of hiring people based on their ability to the job rather than their sexual orientation or skin color? Is it his desire to get inflation under control so we don’t have to continue with the worst inflation of the past 40 years? Is it his desire to stop the sanctuary cities from kicking low-income families our of their government-subsidized housing to make room for illegal immigrants, who are fed and housed with your tax dollars, and then literally protected by the governments of sanctuary cities?

Which of these things are you angry about? I don’t understand. What I see is a lot of people who call themselves followers of Jesus who have no clue about righteousness and justice as described in the Bible. And it’s quite disconcerting.

Thankfully, in God’s wisdom He has chosen to make all of this coincide with what will probably become the greatest harvest of souls in our nation’s (and the world’s) history. This could not happen in America under Biden’s watch because he (or more accurately, his handlers) adamantly fought against anything with “Christian” or “moral” or “biblical” attached to it. Bringing back freedom of speech means, very literally, bringing back the ability for true Christians to talk about Jesus freely. What the left say about the separation of Church and State is patently false. Believe it or not, America was founded on biblical Christian principles, and it can only thrive when those principles once again form the backbone of our laws, our policies, and our national ethos.

This article is not meant to disparage everyone who is against Trump. If he is not your candidate, you have the right to believe that. That’s what America stands for. If you have legitimate reasons for voting for Kamala (who, by the way, is pro-abortion, pro-criminal, anti-constitutional and Marxist), then that’s your God-given right as an American. What I am addressing is the attitude in many Christian circles that condemn Trump for doing the very things that God put him office to accomplish.

There is no doubt that the Third Great Awakening has begun. Many might make the argument that the church grows best and most authentically when it is under persecution, and the revival that is even now sweeping America is proof of that. The church has indeed been persecuted these past several years, and people are hungry for the truth. They (many non-Christians) have seen the destruction that comes from unbridled liberalism (as defined by the events of the past four years) and they are sick of it.

When people like Bill Maher and Joe Rogan begin calling out the hypocrisy and evil of the radical left, then it’s time to take notice. What we’ve seen these past four years is the result of a satanic influence in the halls of power that have left many people bankrupt and wanting TRUTH in exchange for the lies that they have been force-fed. Many non-Christians seem to be understanding that better than many Christians. Anyone with at least a few brain cells can clearly see the failed experiment of radical far-left Marxist theology we have suffered under the previous administration and it’s time to get this nation back on track.

If you still hate Trump, let me ask a big favor. Give him some time. Do what the Bible instructs you to do – pray for President Trump and his cabinet. Pray for this nation. Pray for the rule of law, which is based on righteousness, to prevail. If you do this, God assures us that He will answer and will save our nation. It was on its way straight down the toilet, and now we have a reprieve. If, after four years of Trump, we continue down the same evil path we’ve been on for four years, then you will have the right to give me a big fat “I told you so.” In the meantime, try this:

Consider that the prayers of millions of Spirit-filled Christians who prayed for a Trump victory might have had a nugget of truth that they were standing on. Consider that all the things that Trump wants to accomplish – ending human trafficking, closing the border, honoring the Constitution, getting us back to the rule of law, ending insane gender dysphoria, bringing back high educational standards so that America I no longer 70th in the world but first in the world regarding that education of our youngsters, rooting out evil in our government, reducing rampant government waste, and creating an environment where Christians can be free to simply speak their minds about Jesus –  are good things. These are good things that will bless our people, and when America is blessed, the entire world is blessed. History confirms this, and God is in the business of saving nations.

Christians have historically put the saving of souls as our first and sometimes only priority, and it’s a great and necessary thing to do, but God’s ultimate goal is to save nations, and bring His kingdom to earth. Trump is a step in that direction, and I challenge you to begin thinking that way and watching to see if that’s what really happens.

I believe it’s already happening. It will be messy and perhaps painful for a while, but being yanked from an unbiblical worldview can sometimes feel that way. Until the fruit begins to be harvested.

Just hide and watch. Good things are coming. God is not mocked. God will answer our prayers, and He has already begun.
